"Music is a joyful path for self expression...." J. Hall
It is really a joy for me to teach others to play the harp! And it is my goal as a teacher to make playing the harp a joy for my students.
There are many reasons to learn a musical instrument, and the harp is a great choice because even the simplest tunes sound beautiful and immediately rewarding. For example, you might want to add musical beauty, challenge, therapy, self-expression, or group experience to your life.
Over the past 40 years, I have taught the harp to hundreds of people ages 5 to 85, and all students have their own motivations and abilities. Some of my students have chosen to later move on to pedal harp, others have become quite famous, ….but for most students, the harp is just about having fun!
Almost every style of music is great on the harp including: World Folk, Celtic, Popular or Rock standards, Renaissance and Baroque, light Classics, and New Age to name a few.
Celtic harps come in all sizes from small lap harps to large floor models, and some rentals are available before you decide to buy your own.
Harp lessons can be private or in small groups, and are scheduled either weekly, every other week, or once a month in my home.
Instruction focuses on harp technique, learning solo tunes, improvisation, accompanying your voice or other instruments, and musical theory.
I believe there is a special relationship between teacher and student, so please call anytime for an appointment to come meet me or observe another student’s lesson.
Now is the time!! Give the harp a try! It is magical!
